'David Vainqueur' a bronze study of David and Goliath, circa 1890. The figure of David stands triumpthantly leaning on the hilt of his sword, which is pointing down into the severed head of Goliath.
Titled and signed in cast 'H.Ple'.
Biography: Henri Honoré Plé, born in Paris on March 8, 1853, and died on 31 January 1922 in the same city, is a painter and a french sculptor. Student of Mathurin Moreau, Henri Honoré Plé exhibited at the Salon from 1877 where he won a mention in 1879. Member of the society of french artists, he enrolled in the art nouveau movement and received a bronze medal at the Paris Universal Exposition of 1900.
