Vayreda Canadell (Spanish, 1932-2001) signed 1960's oil on canvas of antelopes in the impressionist style. Possibly inspired by cave paintings of lascauax, France. Signed and dated 'Vayreda, Paris 62' Oil on canvas. Mounted in gold gilt frame with black velvet border. Signed top. Some areas of wear to frame. Josep Maria Vayreda was born into a family closely linked to art. His great uncle Joaquim Vayreda was the founder of the landscape school of Olot, and his uncle Marià Vayreda was a painter and writer. His first exhibition takes place in Sala Jardí in Barcelona in 1958. That same year he moved to Paris, where both his fame and his clientele were increasing. Among his first clients are Queen Paola of Belgium and actors such as Glenn Ford and Fred MacMurray. But the person responsible for its definitive international projection was the American collector Jerome Soloman who, at the beginning of the 60s, bought much of his work and exhibited it in his native country. Vayreda exhibited his work in numerous European cities, such as London, The Hague and Paris, and North American, among them Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and New York. __________________________________ To buy this item please click on the "BUY NOW with CREDIT CARD or PAYPAL" button underneath the Item Ref or phone the shop on 01608 650993. __________________________________ We offer a ring resize service.
